CEUs that actually improve conditioning

But i need to round out 8 CEUs before December and want courses that move the needle on playability, not just pad the resume… What have you taken lately that produced measurably better turf — USGA GS3/Deacon data modules, GCSAA advanced water management, or anything that sharpened moisture control (holding 18–22% v/v on greens) and reduced rolling without losing speed?

I got the GCSAA Advanced Water Management this summer and paired it with Deacon moisture alerts; setting a 19% v/v floor and spot-watering by POGO zone let us drop rolling from 3x/week to 1–2 while holding 10.8–11.1 on GS3. Small caveat: the TDR needed weekly calibration and a mid-season “firmness vs moisture” curve or the alerts drifted. If you still need the 8 CEUs by December, that course counted and was doable in a weekend — want the exact session I took?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

Quick example: the USGA GS3/Deacon performance module (https://www.usga.org/gs3) moved the needle — tying a 20–21% v/v setpoint to a firmness target let us cut rolling by a third while holding 10–10.5 stimp. Small caveat: it sticks only if you’re topdressing little-and-often. @m_russell88’s moisture floor pairs well; curious what your sand schedule looks like — weekly light apps make this work.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

But fWIW, the Irrigation Association’s Golf Irrigation Auditor CEU moved the needle for us — after an audit we bumped DU from 0.62 to 0.76, held “20% ±2 v/v,” and dropped a weekly roll with the same 10–10.5 Stimp. @greenskeeper72, are you already logging DU and nozzle families in Deacon or still? If your DU’s already solid, a quick surfactant module (Aquatrols University has GCSAA points) tightens infiltration patterns and cuts the whack‑a‑mole hand‑watering.

, the December CEU scramble is real — Greenkeeper University’s irrigation/soils module gave me the most bang for playability: we tightened distribution, held “18–22% v/v” with fewer hand-water passes, and cut a roll day without losing speed. Not a silver bullet if your drainage is sketchy, but the framework + TDR thresholds were actionable: https://university.greenkeeperapp.com. Are you mapping zones with a TDR yet or still spot-checking?
