The Perils of New Tech on the Course

But ever notice how the latest drivers have so much tech packed in that they practically require a PhD to operate? I was just playing last week and some guy pulled out a club with more sensors than my smartphone. By the end of the round, we all agreed that while it’s great for analyzing our swings, it won’t help if you’re still facing a double bogey because of a lost ball in the woods.

Right? I had a buddy using a sensor-laden driver last week, and he still lost half his balls! Do the tech really outweigh some old-school skills? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

It’s crazy how these high-tech clubs can complicate the game. I still think the best tip is to focus on your grip and stance before trying to master the gadgets. Sometimes, simplicity beats all that fancy tech — what do you think?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

I totally get that! Last week, my buddy had a fancy driver but still struggled with basic shots. Guess tech can’t replace practice.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

But i’ve seen those high-tech drivers with tons of sensors too, but sometimes I think we lose sight of the basics. On one of my rounds, I focused on keeping my grip consistent instead of fiddling with the tech, and it made all the difference. Maybe next time you hit the course, focus on that instead of the gadgets.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

Right? It’s like getting a new smartphone but still forgetting how to make a call! Maybe we should focus on basic swing mechanics before diving into all the tech. @tomo_connor82, have you found anything that improves your game without all the gadgets?
